Description :
Maengket Dance performed by a troupe from the GMIM church of Rurukan, at the Woloan Ampitheater in September 2009. Maengket is a pre-Christian ceremony that was used to mark the yearly harvest, for the installation of a new house in the village, and as a courting ritual. In line with the region's Christian history, some in Minahasa today refer to Maengket as the region's original liturgy or as a form of prayer. This section of Maengket dance is performed using Tombulu language.
